Porsche’s Mission E is an EV due to reach showrooms in 2020. Being late to the party you wonder what Porsche will add to the capabilities of the Jaguar I-Pace, Audi e-Tron and Mercedes EQ models due to reach customers in 2018 and 2019.
Well according to Autocar Porsche take the circa 240 mile real world range of these cars and adds.. charging to 80% within 15 mins and Level 4 autonomy (that’s fully self driving on most but not all roads).
You can’t drive a press release but if true the 2020 Porsche Mission E will match range of I-Pace & 2019 EVs & add 80% charge in under 15 mins & level 4 autonomy. Porsche have 2 years to put their money where their mouth is. We call that tech level 8 https://t.co/N3vAyBoIvw

We’ve tweaked our MyUrbanCar Tech levels because we reckon taking the charge time from under 60 mins to under 15 mins is as useful as an extra 100 miles of range but with the slower charge. So if Porsche can deliver then the Mission E with those capabilities is the first level 8 we know about. Whether others launch a level 8 first is another question.
